With over 15 years as a professional educator, Kristi Stickel utilizes the knowledge and skills that she has acquired with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business and a Master’s in Education Administration to fulfill her roles as Professional Educator, Educational Consultant, and Entrepreneur. She has taught middle school English Language Arts, has been an AVID Coordinator/Teacher and CTE Exploring Careers teacher in Killeen ISD. The last five years, Kristi was a TRIO Upward Bound Site Coordinator for ESC Region 12.
Kristi recently married Mr. Lynn Stickel and currently lives in Tucson, Arizona. She is the AVID Coordinator for Cholla High School in the Tucson Unified School District and a Doctoral student at Grand Canyon University. She has a daughter, Savannah who is a Baylor Grad and a teacher and a son, Rocky who is a Full Sail University Grad and an upcoming music artist. In her spare time, Kristi travels and spends her time with family and friends.
Kristi’s philosophy about teaching is simple. She agrees with Madeline Hunter when she said, “Kids don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care!” Many think Hunter was being too “warm and fuzzy” but what she meant was you are not going to reach some kids academically until you first reach them on the “human to human” level. Sometimes the subject matter in our classrooms can’t compete with the “drama” in their lives. The main ingredient missing in a lot of our classrooms today is a “connection with kids.”
Kristi’s passion is helping first generation, low-income students reach their college dreams!
